I've been way to busy lately to do any personal posts however today there was a topic on the Omnis discussion list about subwindows and communication between them and their parent windows that made me want to write a little something about it. The topic has come up many times in the past and since it is something I've done a lot with it seemed like a good idea to do a little sample library and add some explanation.
Subwindows are basically windows that are contained within another window. They are Omnis Studio's answer to be able to reuse visual components in multiple places in your application. This can be anything from a subwindow containing a single component/field to a subwindow that allows you to enter an entire record consisting of a dozen entry fields.
The problem herein is how to properly communicate between the subwindow and its parent window.
Object Orientation states that any object should not assume or directly influence another object that contains/uses it. That is the only way to guarantee an object can be reused in multiple places without any restrictions in the behavior of the object that uses it. A subwindow and it's parent however always have a symbiotic relationship in one form or another and some measure of communication between them is required. The parent window communicating with the subwindow is easy as this is simply done through public methods, but the subwindow (as it interacts directly with the user) communicating back to the parent, now their lies the problem.

Yet again it's proved what a weird and wonderful place the internet is. We're not sure yet what happened but it seemed that someone installed some malicous tunneling software on our server, god only knows what sortah trouble these guys where up to.
We had to shut some parts of the server down in order to clean up the mess and change some things hopefully to prevent a repeat. Unfortunately that meant my site and some others where down for a while.
Looks like we're back up :)

Last weekend we were walking around the Lane Cove Plaza and there was a little fair going on. One of the expositions was Chris Tudor's Christmas photoshoot stand. We had him take a few pictures of Blake and talked to him that we've wanted to do a small family photoshoot for a little while. From one thing came another and on Monday we were at his home taking pictures which turned out to be a very pleasant experience.

Whow, this was a hefty week on the subject of Dutch Tax. My heart sank to an absolute low in the middle of the week but the end result seems to be a positive conclusion after all.

I'm sure one could write a book on ATM interfaces and how bad they are. I'm not going to do that though the realization as an IT person is that I rather have people who haven't got an inkling of proper interfaces but are geniusses on safeguarding electronic money transfers writing the ATM software then the other way around :)
I'm just going to rant a few lines on a very simple thing that not only applies to ATMs but to many other scenarios as well..

Some months back there was a discussion on the Omnis lists on how to navigate lists in Omnis Studio effectively. That discussion lead to some interesting discussion given by several people and I've been wanting to summize them on my blog for some time but never got around to it. Even today I don't have time to do a proper writeup but since I just wrote a routine I wanted to share I've decided to do a quick post about these.
I specifically thank Kelly Burgess who gave some great tips on this subject

Well at least we got one step further in this ordeal. Called the tax department again last night. They hadn't received my letters, atleast according to what the guy could see though I would have expected the first one to have arrived at least. They probably ended up at the wrong persons desk. Alas.
The good news though is that my initial phonecall has bore fruit so my well meant thanks go out to the lovely lady that helped me that night/morning.

I haven't blogged in a while not for lack of wanting but because I've simply been way to busy. Having two kids sounds like a good excuse but the reality in that is that I rather spend time with my kids then sit behind a dumb computer. Still it is indeed exhausting and there have been days that both myself and Lily are ready to pull our hair out. In that my hat is off to Lily, the amount of energy required to take care of our kids day in day out, I doubt I would do as good a job if I was in her shoes.
Work has kept me equally busy, Daniel went on his much deserved retirement a week or two back so it's been full hands on deck. Still we're doing some amazing stuff so I'm having the greatest time.
Unfortunately though, it isn't wanting to blog and give an update on how the family is doing that draws me back. It is pure frustration with the Dutch Tax System.
The rest of this blog post will therefor be in Dutch.

Finally I've got a little bit of time to write a family related post. I need to find some time to continue with my object posts but I'm sure I will soon.
The past few weeks have been pretty busy; Linsey getting fever for a couple of days due to some virus doing the rounds here and me not feeling honky dory as a result either didn't help much. Blake's been a real trooper so far without a sign of getting ill and is starting to sleep better and better; for a moment we thought Lily was getting sick as well but a good nights rest seems to have cured that. So it was time to treat the family to a much deserved outing..

Every since the whole discussion about object variables and object references in Studio came up this has been linguring in my mind so before I continue with my discussion on a way to use object variables in Omnis I felt compelled to do some ranting :)
I can't be certain but I imagine this discussion lies at the heart of the decision making of how Omnis originally implemented their object model and what direction they took it in.
Add to: Digg | Technorati | del.icio.us | Stumbleupon | reddit | Furl
As I was bragging about this on the Omnis list let's start doing a writeup about this. This will be a multipart writeup on object memory management in Omnis Studio 4 using object references.
This part we'll look at a simple retain/release object base class that allows us to track a single instance of an object that is being used by different parts of the system. It is a widely used model though my primary inspiration has been the use of it in Cocoa.
For the second part we'll look at implementing a copying scheme for our objects.
For the third part we'll look at auto releasing objects, why we need to do this and how we can implement this in Omnis.
The final part we'll look into tracking retains and releases in order to find memory leaks (not just leaks happening but finding the source).

I've been way to busy to mind my blog the past few weeks. Things are finally starting to settle down and we're getting back into a pattern. I'm even finding some time for hobbies, though marginally and at the cost of much needed sleep:)

My internal clock is really messed up, I feel like I've been a new father for over a month now but its only been just over two weeks. Mind you, I went back to work last week already, I had taken some time off before Blake was born, and I'm taking some more time off later in the month. Anyway that may alter my perception of time.
It's hard to figure out whether its between my ears but it feels like these past few weeks have been alot more tiring then when we had Linsey. Maybe its because we now have two children or maybe there is just to much going living in a different country and having just moved and all, I never really was very good with change. Happily though it looks like Lily is having less difficulty then last time.
Mind you, the above said, I couldn't be a more proud father and I wouldn't give this up for the world.

Unfortunately I've lost one of my latest Omnis tutorial blog posts (if someone has it archived somewhere...) and the latest posts about our situation here in Sydney. Awell, c'est la vie!!

I've placed my old Omnis tutorials back on this blog. They where originally posted on www.omniscentral.com. You can find them by clicking Omnis in the navigation on the right side of this site.
Note that these are already over a year old and I simply copy/pasted them over from my original transcripts. I will go through them at some point and clean them up a little so they show correct. I''ll also see if I can get the original demo libraries back online, not sure if I still have them somewhere.
The past year working actively with Omnis Studio 4 (at my previous work we were still doing most of our work in Studio 3) I have learned some new tricks and I''ve been writing actively on the omnis mailing list (http://www.omnis-dev.com/) about this. If I can find the time I may continue this series but I make no promises :)

Yup, i went out to the store today to buy DVD player #4 of this year today. We bought a cheap DVD player at Aldi when we just moved to Sydney because our DVD player from Holland hadn''t arrived yet. That DVD player desided to blow its amplifyer probably because the only way to get some resonable sound out of it was running it on its max setting. I had off course lost the reciept and since my old trusty DVD player had been sitting in a corner ever since it had arrived from Holland, I decided to use that instead. About a month back, after 4 trusty years of operation and abuse, it also decided it had enough.
So everything being closed I just ran into the local Coles, they had this cheap 50 dollar DVD player (it would be discounted to 29 a few weeks afterwards grrrr) so I thought I would give that a go. My trusty playstation only plays region 2 DVDs and my WII off course doesnt come with a DVD player software at all (go Nintendo!). This player from Coles turned out to be a region 4 player so I''ve been switching back and forth between the playstation and the MTV (yeah MTV!) DVD player.
Last week we decided to finally get a STB for free arial digital (not really worth the 29 bucks I paid for it but they are pulling the plug on the analog system soon). Plugging it in seems to have caused a small surge and blew the internal fuse on the MTV Player.. Hurray!
I had enough of this cheap stuff and went out to get a proper DVD player at Dick Smith today. I wasn''t ready to get a blue ray yet (we don''t have a capable TV anyways) but I did want to get a good DVD player and found a really nicely specced LG one. After making sure with the sales guy it was region free as I''m tired of switching we went home.. Its a good player, I''ve got Wall-E running on it now and I must say, sweeet! It is however, Region 4.... BLAST!

Visa article on www.news.com.au
This is the same xenophobic crap we get in Holland right now. Well let me tell you something about 457 Visa''s as this is the Visa that allows me to work in Australia for the next 4 years.
Forgetting for a moment how high the requirements are for getting a 457 Visa, the minimum salary level is but an inkling of this, lets look at this from an employers perspective...

Well just going to keep it short :) I''ve been all alone for the past few weeks. Lily and Linsey are off to a well deserved break in HK. Soon I will see them again, for now I''ll have to do it with some pictures Francis made for us.
Francis, where is my wife? Only pictures of Linsey la!

Whow, we are in 2009 already!!
We''ve had our first culture shock during the holidays here. First because of the obvious fact that a white christmas here is caused by sunglare. It hit 40 degrees on some days during the holidays. The other is that in Holland, during Christmas restaurants have their best day and we usually go out, here everything is CLOSED. Needless to say we had moments where we simply didn''t know what to do...
Other then that, Linsey has been sick a few days but is feeling better, she''s really starting to enjoy going to the local swimming pool to which I try to take her atleast once a week, and I''ve been swimming nearly every day and finally started loosing weight again.
On the weight subject, after loosing so much weight I''ve been careful to keep it up. But staying a month in HK just before we moved, and having the most hectic two months of my life just before the move and just after the move, I had put exercising on the backburner. The result... I had gained 10kg compared to my lowest weight (85kg).
I picked up swimming after we moved to Lane Cove and settled down but kept swinging around 92kg for a long while. I''ve finally managed to get back under 90kg which I''m very chuffed about. I''ve set a target to be back on 85kg before the end of summer.
Two things I''m particularly proud at, at this point is that I''m doing this without medication this time, and I''m getting more and more muscles. I''m really starting to loose that geeky exterior I''ve had my whole life :D
Well knock on wood that I keep it up, wish me luck!!
Ok, time for pictures! Besides getting loads of new toys Linsey''s favorite present during the holidays is her new trike. She actually gets mad at us every time we leave the house without it :D
She''s getting very acrobatic too, there is a childrens gym close by that we''re thinking about taking her after she''s back from her trip to HK.
And no, we didn''t let her climb the tree :D
Two more random pictures from our day out in the park:

Well sorry to say, little about family today, I want to blog about something entirely different.
I''ve been passionate about cars for most of my adult life, driven around circuits the last few years and tinkered around with them loads too.
Some time ago I started reading into electric cars. Not because I''m such an eco friendly guy, far from it, my interest was mostly fueled, well simply by interest when I ran into the subject. Electric cars just seemed like a neat novel idea (while its for from novel turns out, they''ve been around for well over a century).
In the last year or so however I''ve been taking this more and more serious and really started reading up on the subject. I was amazed to find there is a large community out there who are actively building electric cars and have been doing so for many years.
I was also amazed to find that the technology and knowladge to undertake such a project has been around for decades as well. Its been since the early nineteens that battery technology, which seems to have been the #1 reason to not go down the electric route seems to have caught up enough to make electric cars as usable as a normal petrol car for commuter driving.
Since recently advances in lithium based batteries, all though currently still on the expensive side for the car hobbiest, have even brought electric cars really into competition with their petrol based brothers.
Now I''m far from starting my own conversion project, right now me and Lily are concentrating hard on getting our lives up and running here in Australia, it''ll be awhile before I start getting into such expensive hobbies again (but one can dream right).
Still, there is loads of cool stuff out there and I''m sure to be following it more and more closely. Also here in Australia electric car enthousiasts seem to be a well represented bunch, so thats pretty cool too :)
Here is atleast one link that really struck me that any car nut would enjoy: http://www.evcapri.com/

We''ve been pretty busy lately, just the normal tidbits in life. Lots to do at work, lots to do at home. Not much to tell though.
Got some cool new pictures though :) To start off with, it was Lily''s birthday a few days ago, so we had some great cake:) One of the things we got in a store in chatswood is this small plasma globe that linsey just loves:
And some more pictures of Linsey:
She just loves to make that mad face :)
Finally, our ''pets'':
There are loads of these white parrots around here, they fly in from time to time and sit on our little balcony or in the kitchen window. Very cute. They make alot of noise though :)

It''s still in an experimental stage but I''ve started a second blog focused at my profession so I can keep this site purely related to my personal life.
You can find it here: [url]http://bastiaan.olij.biz
As you can see its on a new domain called olij.biz, we might expand on that at some point. It''s a domain I started with my cousin Klaas who through a completely different path ended up in the same business I am in.
Keep an eye on it, we plan to add some interesting stuff to it in the future.
It''s also made me realize this site should really be update some day soon.
In the mean while, Linsey is growing up faster and faster:) I took her out swimming the other day for the first time and she loved it!
Lily has been taking some new vids of her so check out her youtube page, they are really cute!
I''ve been gobbling up books in a new scifi series. I ran into it by accident when I was looking for something new to read. Picked up a copy of Star Strike, the first in a trilogy by Ian Douglas (an alias for Digg | Technorati | del.icio.us | Stumbleupon | reddit | Furl
Last weekend my colleague Faez took us all the way to the blue mountains. We had an unbelievably good day there. Faez had prepared a great lunch (he''s an excellent cook) which we could enjoy while looking over the blue mountains from Sublime point.
After wards we drove to Scenic world where you can really enjoy the view. Highlight certainly was taking the Scenic railway, an old nearly vertical piece of rail that goes down the mountain to the old coal mines. Its one of the best rollercoaster rides I''ve done :)

We''ve been unbelievably busy the past few weeks. Went to Coogee beach with a friend a couple of weeks ago. Finally took the ferry to Manly beach and our friend Mavis dropped by after one of her flights took her to Sydney.
Sydney weather has been weird lately, days where it is over 30 degrees C swap with cold rainy days. I''m also pretty amazed how it can be unbelievably hot during the day, only to drop like crazy the moment the sun goes down. We''ve been unprepared a few times where we''re walking around sweating the whole day in the CBD, but before we head back having the temperature fall to a point where we need the jackets we left at home :) It''s not completely summer yet :)
That all said, we''ve had some crazily beautiful and enjoyable days.

As promised some pictures we took last weekend :)
First this is our new living room, pretty empty and messy but hey :D
Well got some bad bad news this morning. Optus called us up to cancel our installation appointment due to network troubles and postponed it to 2 weeks from now! Thats another two weeks without proper internet at home!
We took a lot of pictures over the weekend that I wanted to start uploading once I got home. I don''t want to update this blog during work hours to much.. I''ll the pictures up tomorrow or the day after if I have a moment to spare.
We had a very busy weekend. Linsey has gotten her first haircut!! She was a real trooper loving the attention she was getting. The haircut was a simple one as we want her hair to grow long, but it was getting in front of her eyes.
Both me and Lily got a new haircut too. Lily had a real change that took her a lot of getting used to but it looks so good on her. Our new barber is also a sponsored immigrant and a real friendly person, I can really recommend him.
Other then that, we went to the Queen Victoria Building in central Sydney, walked through China Town and Hyde park (which is starting to fill with people due to World Youth Day) and saw the popes arrival on TV. Also finally made it to the opera house. It is going to be complete madness over the next week so I think we''ll avoid Sydney centre for a few days.
Owh and our ship with moving boxes is delayed but that was to be expected.. Should be in port by the end of the week, so hopefully we''ll have our stuff by the end of the month...

Well these past few days have been completely mad. We got our keys to our new apartment last week so we decided to move in over the weekend.
Some friends of ours are moving from Australia back to America and had some furniture left over that we could use so on Saturday me and David rented a truck and we spend a whole day moving stuff. It didn''t take long to get the things into our place but since we had the truck for a whole day, we used it to drive around the whole northern part of Sydney moving stuff around :)
Needless to say we were pretty beat by the end of the day but there would be no rest yet.
Sunday we went back to Ikea to choose the things we actually needed now that we had a better idea of the room we had available. Originally we thought of using the bed we got from Victor and Monica as a guestbed but it actually looked really good in the master bedroom. Its an old handmade bed including a couple of cupboards that has its origins in Peru :)
That meant just getting a mattress and blankets and such (all our stuff is still being shipped from NL).
We also got a big clothing whatever its called in matching color and mirror doors. Unfortunately the mirror doors where cracked on delivery and we''re waiting for IKEA to get us replacements :(
We also had to buy a bed and mattress for Linsey. The normal cot was out of stock so we got her a cot that you can later on transform into a normal bed by taking the top and sides off. It looks pretty weird in her room as there is very little else in there at the moment...
Finally we got ourselves a new sofa that we are really pleased with.
We basically moved in on Tuesday. Not without problems though. Our apartment is old, don''t know for sure how old but I''m guessing 60''ies or 70''ies built. Some of the windows are stuck closed probably because they have just been painted. Our kitchen looks very dated. The bathrooms as well but the style is actually nice and it looks relatively good taking its age into account. All the rooms have been repainted and new carpets put in so they look nice and clean.
The biggest problem we''ve been working at the whole week is that some of the drains are partly blocked and that is giving us some nasty surprises. Nothing that I''m sure can''t be fixed but these things do take their time and as a result, their toll :)
I really need to put some pictures online of the apartment but its hard to make some good ones that really show the apartment off. I''ll probably upload a video at some point but making that will have to wait till the weekend.
So for now here is a description. We''re in a unit block with a number of 2 and 3 room apartments. Ours is way in the back one flight of stairs down which is really lovely as we have hardly any noise. The apartment block is literally 6 houses down from the main shopping area in Lane Cove. Lily was very pleased to find both a child care center and community center almost next door to us, and I can''t wait to try out the big public pool just down the street from us. Location couldn''t have been more ideal for a starting family like us.
Once you enter the building and walk all the way to the back and down some stairs you end up at our apartment. You enter the main living and dining room right away. Not as big as we had in Hoofddorp but definitely far from small. On the far side we have double glass doors that open to a small balkony that is bathed in sunlight almost the whole day. I''m sure that one will make my mom pretty jealous :P
The kitchen is right next to that and is relatively large. It is rather outdated but in fairly good condition. I do think a lot of space is waisted and a lot could be done to turn this into a much more useful kitchen, possibly with the ability to sit down for breakfast and/or small meals, but alas, we''re renting so no chance for changing that :D
At the other side of the living room a door leads to a small L shaped hallway that bring us to the other rooms of the house. All the bedrooms are similarly sized and definitely spacey. On the left we have a bedroom that is now Linsey''s room and apart from a small electric heater and her cot, pretty empty. We''ll need to work on that.
To the right we find the second bedroom that we''ll use as a study/guestroom though it currently doubles as a room to store all the empty furniture boxes we still need to get rid off.
Down the other leg of the hallway we find a small laundry room on one side, and the master bathroom on the other side.
The master bathroom has a toilet, shower and bath but this is the bathroom plagued with problems at the moment so we aren''t using it yet.
At the end of the hallway we find our master bedroom which has its own small private bathroom with toilet and shower.
So all in all, a darn good find especially once we get some of the problems fixed (and a darn bad find if we don''t). It could use a makeover to bring it up to more modern standards but since we''re renting, I''m not complaining at all.
I hope to get some pictures online soon...

Sorry for the infrequent updates but its been a busy week. Also the memory card on the camera filled up a bit to quickly and I couldn''t empty it until this weekend. I still have to upload the latest pictures.
For now we''ve been very busy house hunting. The market in Sydney is such that there are more people interested then houses available so its proven difficult to find something. Hopefully we''ll get some good news today or tomorrow on the properties we''ve put applications out to.
Sunday it was great weather so we decided to head out to Taronga Zoo during the day. Last time we went there in January it was very rain but aside from the chilly weather yesterday was great. It is also amazing to see the difference in Linsey. In January she hardly realized what she was seeing, now she just pointed and shouted out to the animals she saw and you could see how much she enjoys it. I''ll post up pictures of the day later in the week :)
At night we had a great night out as we visited David''s place and were treated to a great home cooked dinner. Needless to say we were dead tired by the time we got home.

Quick update,
Today we got word that everything went OK yesterday with the transfer of our old house in the Netherlands. We''re officially homeless now :) Our new residence for the time being in Sydney is all ready now. We''ll be in the same building we stayed earlier in the year but a different apartment. We won''t move in until next week though. Still enjoying our little vacation in HK.
Well, enjoying.. It''s been raining like crazy for the last few days and today we even seem to have gotten some sort of storm warning.. Luckely you can get nearly everywhere worth going in HK without ever stepping outside. Here in Ma On Shan we can get directly from our apartment into the shopping malls and from there directly into the KCR/MTR system and go to other shopping malls all over HK:)

It''s been a long and busy week so I''ve hardly had time to update the website. So much we''ve done, I don''t remember half of it :)
A couple of the more memorable things where going to Shatin meeting up with a number of Lily''s family member including just over 1 year old son of a nephew of Lily. Linsey was very thrilled though the little boy didn''t really know what to do about the whole situation :)

Yesterday as I mentioned we had another yam cha. We met up with Lily''s father side of the family in a fancy restaurant in Mong Kok. Alot of pictures where taken but alas, not by us:) There were 15 to 20 people there and it all started around 11am which for Linsey normally is nap time. Being tired and handed around with all those people sure took some toll. Linsey loved it though allthough around 12 she had enough and took a small nap on my shoulders.
Linsey was a big hit with the family though, everyone just loved her.
We did pay the price later in the day because Linsey really didn''t get enough rest during the day. She really became a handful later in the day so we ended up not doing to much.
We dropped by a mall with Ronald and Stephanie but they were having a sale and it was packed with people.
I also saw the new Indiana jones movie, a bit predictable at times and it seemed some of the traps where to easily solved using the same trick multiple times. Still it was very enjoyable, just seeing Harrison Ford in action as indie again was worth the watch. He is undoubtably one of my favorite actors.
Today we took an easy day, only in the afternoon we had Lily''s old friends visit us so she really enjoyed the day. Linsey offcourse was the centre of attention once again....

Well it''s been a busy start of the weekend for us for sure, today promisses to be another busy day :)
I have to say about Hong Kong, you go to the right restaurant here, and 4 people can have a wonderful large meal and it will set you back 10 euros (no not per person, the whole meal for 4!). You get into public transport, and you can get anywhere in the city for less then 1 or 2 euro''s (the cheapest ticket in Holland costs more and doesn''t get you anywhere noteworthy). You really can live on a small budget if you go here on vacation without compromising. Not bad for a country that otherwise has pretty steep living costs (housing, fuel, etc. all just as or more expensive then Holland). Tax is nice here though...
Friday at the end of the day we went to Lily''s aunt. They had a wonderfull little playground where Linsey could play with all sorts of toys and other kids. With my parents in law, my aunt, her mother and some other people around it did get a little crowded :)
We also had a wonderful dinner with them, it unfortunately did take up to 10 o''clock before we headed home. That was a wonderful busride for Linsey who had a wonderful view being in a double decker bus, but all in all, it was a too tiring day for her and we paid the price on Saterday.

Not that much happening today, I won''t be doing a day by day report anyways. Just chilling a little and trying to get our bearings. Francis dropped by with her camera and made some really nice shots:) Also brother Ronald and his wife Stephanie should come round later this night.

We''ve finally arrived in HK for our little break. The flight over was exhausting. We had alot of luck with checkin, I have to hand it to Cathay Pacific, their service is more then excelent. With Linsey in combination with moving to Australia we had alot off additional luggage, baby trolly, baby bed, clothes for 2 months, etc. A bit of shifting around and they more the accomodated us even though we stretched the allowed limits a little.
Even better, since it wasn''t a full flight they had moved our seats around so by the time we were allowed to board, we had gotten two seats in a row of 4 with the other two seats empty. That really was a life saver.
Once on the flight Linsey really became a busy body. For her it was the middle of the day far far away from her nap or bedtime, so sitting in a confined space, she really hated it. First time we flew she was little enough to sleep most of the day, but this time.. owh boy, I feel sorry for the people around us.
After more then 6 hours of flying Linsey finally got tired of throwing a tantrum and started to fall asleep, eventually so did we...

Just saying hi from the hotel. We managed to clear the house yesterday, ready to be transferred. I hope we didn''t overlook anything, we got short on time in the end. But I think it all went very nicely.
I hope the new owners will be as happy in our old house as we were. It was a good place to live!
Just little over 3 hours before we fly to HK... :)

These past two weeks have been full of stress, loads of last minute things to take care off, loads of unclarity about when we could leave, and what other things to do. But everything is finally finding its place.
Last Friday was my last day at FIQAS, I''m taking with me 11 years of memories and experience and leaving behind many colleagues whom I consider friends. But alas, nothing lasts for ever and we''ve got an amazing time ahead of us!
Tomorrow our belongings will be picked up to be shipped to Australia and on Tuesday we fly out to Hong Kong already! The 8th we should arrive in Sydney :)
Just look at all those boxes:
Linsey is making leaps forward right now, its amazing seeing her grow up. She is almost walking now, holding my hands or a chair she already walks throughout our house. She loves going to our bedroom where we have a full size mirror, just look at her enthusiasm:

Well its been a long while since I had a chance to post here, but alot has happened inbetween. This page may still look the same as it has since Linsey was born and I first build this version of the site, but it isn''t the same site at all.
I have taken down the album but will be enhancing the ability to post things on the site and include photos in the distant future. Not all posts from the old site have been put on the new site and you can see the dates do not match up.
The reason for this change had little to do with the site however. Yes I finally made something so Lily can post as well, but I could have done that with the old site too.
The reason is that I had to move server and didn''t want to take up all the space that a full album does. I was also starting to question the need to be so public. Yes our family doesn''t live close, but we exchange photo''s anyway.
It is however the reason for moving server that is what this is all about. I''ve been hosting our site at home through our 24x7 internet connection. It won''t be long however and we won''t live here anymore, and thus the internet connection is lost.
Now I could set up my server at my new home, the problem is, my new home is literally on the other side of the planet!
If all goes as planned, we''re moving to Sydney Australia!
Our old site can still be reached at Digg | Technorati | del.icio.us | Stumbleupon | reddit | Furl
We''re back from our short trip to the other side of the world!
Like usual we forgot to take pictures of half the places we visited. We had some great fun and visited loads of people we knew. When we''ve recovered a bit I''ll post a bit more about our trip and what we did:)

Happy new year!
Whow time really flies, only 10 more days and Linsey will be 7 months!
Loads has happened the past month and some really exciting times are waiting around the corner.
We had plenty of friends visit us this month but we didn''t always take pictures:(

Its been a busy month, we''ve taken plenty of pictures and Lily has been pretty busy capturing some videos that she''s posting on youtube but I just haven''t had the time to upload everything.
I have now uploaded most of the pictures though so you can check them out if you want:) Here are a few cool ones:)

I wasn''t planning on going to an Omnis conference this year but after talking with many of my friends in the Omnis community about how much they would enjoy seeing me again and meeting my family I couldn''t resist. Reshuffling my agenda I was able to plan a 3 day trip and take Lily and Linsey along for the ride.
On hindsight, the drive up to Fulda was to long, such a rushed plan put together is not something to repeat, next time I should simply accept that life is no fun without going to these conferences and plan ahead and make sure we can take a trip with maybe a nice stop in the middle.
None the less we greatly enjoyed ourselves, all though the conference was a little booring at times for Lily she also made many friends and off course Linsey was an instant hit. For me, it reminded me how much I feel apart of this community and how blessed I am with so many different friends from so many different cultures and different parts of the world as Omnis developers from Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, America, Australia, Canada and so on all came together to connect, share, learn and just be friends.
We didn''t take many pictures, but I''m sure pictures will popup on other sites as the event ends tomorow.

We''ve been plenty busy the past few weeks. Time really flies. Job is getting real busy and it''s getting a real challenge finding enough time for everything. But alas, such is life:)
Not to many new pictures, we did update a few. Linsey is learning some new tricks, slowly starting to roll around. We''re waiting for her to start crawling :D
She is really starting to make a lot of noice, she has so much volume in her voice its unbelievable. She really lets us know when she wants attention and usually gets it as well so I guess we''re giving her the wrong signal :)

We''ve been way to busy the past few weeks, works been crazy and private live is running amok:)
Linsey is getting more and more active and really is a handful, we''re enjoying every second of it though. She''s learning more and more. Its amazing how strong she is. 3 and a half months, they''ve gone so fast..
So we''re in the 4th month so a new directory with pictures. I was lagging behind with the photos so I smuggled a bit, some of the pictures are actually taken at the end of the 3rd month but who''s counting :)
We''ve had Lily''s high school friend Carol visit us a few weeks back. Just like Mavis she''s an airline stewardess now and happened to come to Holland. Unfortunately she come through the week and we didn''t have the time we would have liked to spend with her. We also visited Lilys friend Ineke who she did an internship a few years ago.
Also some nice pictures of our star girl herself:

Well these have been a few interesting weeks for Linsey.
We have had many friends visit us the past two weeks and we''ve been running around visiting friends as well.
Early in the month Myrte stopped by again and Lily''s old school mate Kelly visited with her son and husband.

Last weekend Lily''s high school friend Mavis visited us. She is a stewardess for Cathey Pacific and happened to fly on Amsterdam.
She really wanted to see windmills so we made a small trip to de Zaanse Schans:)
