What a week!
Well, loosing the recent content of our site was a bit of a downer, it also means that the latest updates of what has been going on have all disappeared. I'm not going to rewrite it all but just to bring those who are interested back up to speed...
First off, our housing situation. It seems we've just about rounded things off. With help from our real estate agent Holgate we've found a new place that we can hopefully rent for a longer period. This place is also in Lane Cove. It was a trying week last week trying to move into it. We got a removalist to do the heavy work (man and his van, you guys rock!) and a piano specialist to move our piano (F.M.Olde, thanks again, sorry to bring you guys out so soon after the first move!). The rest we did ourselves, many thanks to both my good friend Striker, who was kind enough to let us use his trailer) and my neighbour Antony. Without their help we wouldn't have gotten there! It still took us over 5 trips (3 with the trailer) to get all the stuff over and alot was done in the rain, brrrr... The effect it had on Lily wasn't ideal either and there was even a moment where we feared she might go into early labour due to overexerting herself and all she was doing was unpacking a few things. Moving while in your last month of pregnancy is not to be recommended but we had no choice..
The place itself has its pro's and con's compared to our old place. The larger living room and its layout are definate good parts but the general state is less good and its further away from the center. The place is roughly the same size so we've given up space in the bedrooms and kitchen. We'll see how we'll feel about it once we've lived here for awhile longer. I think all thinks considered this is a good place and so far we're happy with it. Now we just need to round one or two things off with our agent and we can finally close this awful chapter.
The thing that should be keeping us busy and now again is, is Lily's pregnancy. So far it's been going pretty good though not without its share of twists and turns. A couple of weeks ago we learned our baby was in breech and we went into a bit of a period of extremes between best case and worse case scenarios. For those that don't know, a baby in breech is where the baby is the wrong way around and would be born head last. What comes first depends a little on the orientation but generally speaking a natural birth is something they do not want and we could even be looking at an early delivery.
It's still to early to tell for sure but today we went through a procedure where they attempt to externally turn the baby the right way around. The procedure itself was successful and hopefully tomorrow we'll get some good news that there are no complications resulting from this.
Final news was that me and Striker ran out to Liverpool during the week to look at a car. I had ran into this add for a Toyota AE92. Not a car I have any special link with but alot of the tech matches my old AE86 but in FWD format. It also has 4 doors (5 actually, its a hatch), manual (important to me) and airco (important to Lily). Most important was that it was nicely priced. We drove out when it started to rain and got there late while it was pooring. Not the situation in which to buy a car. The guy selling it was enthousiastic about the car (duh) but unhappy he had to drop the price. I'm guessing he overestimated the worth because the GTS version is indeed worth $$ but maybe he was just playing it, dunne know. We got to take it for a drive and noticed a few problems with the car but nothing I can't handle. Technically the car seemed sound and with the baby coming and it being a Toyota, I decided to take a chance. I made the guy a sensible offer (I think) and we shaked hands and I drove it home.
I've had it for roughly a week now and so far I think I did good. Already fixed a few of the more important problems and will be giving her a full service soon. Found a few new problems, mostly cosmetic but I can live with those. All in all, with a little TLC, it will be a very nice little family car indeed.
Owh, and I also saw the new Star Trek movie. All I'll say about that right now is, AWSOME! GO SEE IT! I went to see it in the iMax theatre, all I can say, I want to go and see it there again! Wish I had the time to spare...
